THE SILENCE IN THE EYE OF THE STORM
The project explores the role of architecture in creating a gradual transition between intense urban movement, sensory overload, and spaces of calm within a dense transportation and employment hub. Rather than opposing the speed and complexity of the existing infrastructure, the intervention works within it, introducing thresholds, intermediate spaces, and moments of pause.
A continuous three-dimensional circulation system connects the different transportation networks and urban levels, gradually unfolding into secondary paths and sheltered spaces where movement can slow down. Through changes in enclosure, light, materiality, vegetation, and exposure, the architecture creates varying degrees of intensity and allows the individual to choose between movement and pause, exposure and retreat. The project transforms infrastructure designed primarily for flow into an environment that also supports orientation, recovery, and rest—creating moments of silence within the intensity of the city.
